LABORATORY AND CHEMICAL ANALYSIS 1

Prof. Stan Mertzman at the Franklin and Marshall College performed the chemical analysis via XRF for 17 samples. The nepheline values were derived by normative mineral calculation. Loss on Ignition (LOI) was also performed along with Fe+2 titration. The full results are included on the Assay Results pages.

Nepheline Content.
Nepheline values reported in the 17 samples from Table Mountain ranged from 0.7% to 14.64% with median values between 8% and 12% (see Graph 9.1.1).

Weather effects on nepheline content.
A portion of the nepheline and analcime content in the rock samples was lost due to weather exposure. The Loss on Ignition (LOI) indirectly reflects the degree of weathering, the higher the value of LOI, the higher the weather exposure and alteration. The lab made no attempt to compensate for the lost nepheline values in the report. Chart 9.1.1 exhibits the inversely proportional values of LOI vs. nepheline content on the 17 samples collected at Table Mountain.
